[IP] Types of Diabetes (Was: Diabetic Magazines)

I feel the EXACT same way. When telling people I have diabetes they all
feel compelled to tell me how their grandmother has diabetes and they remark
how strange it is that I am not trying to control it with diet and
excersize. I always try to explain the difference between the two types
which is often news to most people, but when I don't have the time my
favorite phrase is "Same names, same symptoms, different diseases." People
seem to understand this better (either that or they are just placating me :)

I agree that new names are in order. Do we have the power to change them?
Pr are we just like congress? ;)

Sorry about the poltical dig...It was just a joke...but I used to work in
congress and have seen it first hand :)

Subject: Re: [IP] Diabetic Magazines--Any Suggestions?

Of all the magazines I've been able to find, Diabetes Interview seems to
give the most focused attention to Type I's.

I know that Type II is more prevalent, but I still find it annoying that
Diabetes publications treat us as after thoughts (with the exception of DI).
This is one of the biggest reasons I think that Type I Diabetes needs to be
referred to as something other than Diabetes. Either that or refer to Type
as something else. It's the new kid on the block, so make it change. =)
