Not sure on how he put it but it is common for those in the hospital and 
receiving Insulin (mainly IV) to have potassium added to the fluids since 
insulin does force Potassium (K+) into the cell.  Insulin Therapy is also a 
treatment for hyperkalemia or high potassium levels.
