Re: [IP] MiniMed 506

Melva,
I used a MM506 for 6 years. I just switched up to a 508 last year. I liked
my 506 and never had nay problems with it. I upgraded because my warranty
had expired and MM said that I could upgrade with no charge as long as my
doctor wrote an upgrade letter of medical necessity. He did this because at
the time I was working around loud machines and the "medical necessity" was
that I could no hear the alarms and the 508 has the vibration mode. MM
accepted the insurance and I turned in my 506 for the 508. Insurance told
me that they would cover all but $1000 and that is what MM said that they
would "pay me" for the 506. So all in all, I paid nothing and have a new
pump!
You should look into it-I love all the bells and whistles with my 508!
