Jon Carroll,

I enjoyed your March 30, 2000 article and want to comment on your last
paragraph which was:

"Being a diabetic is like taking a second job. If you do it well, you
can prosper and live long. If you do not read the fine manuals, if you
refuse to show up, you'll get fired. And there ain't no grievance

It's a job to be sure.  A job that can also be like today's job market.

Even if you show up, read all the manuals and do an excetional job, too
many of us get:
       "Don't take it personally, you are doing a great job. It has
nothing to do with you."

And those who knew us will say "If only ________ had worked harder, they
wouldn't have been down-sized!"
