Subject: [IP] Inserting sils

When you have a lot of pain while inserting sils, especially on little kids
/ skinny people, usually it's because the sil was at too great of an angle
and hit the layer of muscle under the skin. THAT is a painful thing. There
is nothing to do when that happens except take it out and start over at a
much shallower angle. Sometimes, you can hit a little nerve, but the kind
of pain that you describe reminds me more of muscle. Pinch up an inch,
insert the sil at just enough of an angle to get through the skin, then
flatten the angle out so it's just about parallel to the skin. That should
work with a 4 year old.
