[IP] Family camp is..

family diabetes camp is generally a weekend or week long "camp". Where the
adults attend classes by nutritionist, Endos, CDEs, diabetic camp
counselors. For a newly diagnosed family it can be a great time to learn
and see people that have had D and are great people.

The kids go and play, hike, swim, archery, whatever. All under the care of
people who know what to do as well as you do. They also have some ed
classes but mostly fun.

We have been to the Santa Clara Diabetes Society weekend family camp in the
Santa Cruz Mountains in California. It will be the last weekend in April.
$55 per person, sleep in group cabins.

We have been to Bear skin Meadows in Kings Canyon Sequoia Ca. A week long
deal. Most of the counselors pump and are college students, good roll
models. Parent education in the morning, free time in afternoon. Kids play
all day , night hikes, swimming, softball. Good place to meet other
families. Sleep in cots on decks and under the stars. It is run by
Diabetic Youth foundation, Ron Brown is head of the camp. Dr. Mary is head
Endo and a Dr, from Stanford was there last Summer. Mary pumps.

Both places have programs that allow anyone to attend even if they can't
pay. So don't worry about that.

Both places are set up for MDI, so pumpers get fed all day long.
