Sorry - I did not mean for my answer to sound sarcastic. I, too, injected 
long-acting insulin before I started pumping and had A1Cs in the 5th and 6th 
percentiles. However, I would not now inject long-acting insulin. The most I 
would do is inject Regular every 5 hours or so to cover my basal rate and 
rapid-acting for food. Regular would get out of my system a lot faster than 
intermediate- or long-acting insulin and would make my transition back to 
the pump a lot easier.
