This is something you should handle by adjusting basals so you don't 
need a bedtime snack.  (If you want one, bolus with it, after you've 
adjusted your basals.)  It's not unusual to need a reduced basal for 
part of the night--mine's currently .55 midnight to 3 am, ramping up 
to 1.15 by 8 am and then dropping gradually through the day.  (That's 
with the chemo; normally I'm lower all around.)  Another thing to 
remember is that SOMETIMES persistent high BG is the result of going 
too low, though this is definitely a YMMV (your mileage may vary) 
thing.
