RE:[IP] Just Expired Humulin N - Is it still good?

One way to find out... I've never used expired Insulin (never had any to
use until recently),

Last check-up, my doctor gave me 3 bottles of Novolog Insulin that had
expired within the past few months.

He told me that the Novo rep who supplies the sample bottles to his office
assured him that with Novolog, due to FDA regulations and Q.A. policies,
they stamp the package with an "expiration date" roughly 16 month's EARLIER
than the company expects the Insulin to lose potency.

He said that the Novo rep assured him that, at least Novolog, is safely
usable and potent for "at least 1 year PAST the marked expiration date."

Subject: [IP] Just Expired Humulin N - Is it still good?

I'm heading to the local waterpark this month and don't like to bring my
pump in the water as well as risk getting dinged up going down the slides.
So I
use Humulin N for the day.

Upon inspecting the vial I noticed it had an expiration of 02/08 on the box
on the prescription sticker it says to discard after 08/30/08. So my
question is
if the insulin is still good? Can I use it or do I need to buy a new vial?
Anyone have experience with this situation?

Thank you Fellow Pumpers.
