Hi Cheryl,
You are partly right about the heartbeat thing. The symptoms we feel from
hypoglycemia, rapid heartbeat, sweating, etc are due to epinephrine, which
is what the beta blockers are blocking (along with some other hormones).
Basically, your body goes into "fight or flight" mode when you are low - if
you have enough epinephrine.
