I've had that problem for years (even before I was diagnosed). The best 
thing that I've found is to use a *very* mild shaving cream (Aveeno or 
Sweet Almond Oil from Crabtree and Evelyn) and use the best razor 
possbile (I think it's the Mach 3!) I usually shave at the end of my 
shower or a good hot bath. The hair is softer and the follicles don't 
seem to get as irritated. I rinse in cool (not *cold* water) and pat my 
skin dry (no rubbing!)I don't use any lotions/aftershave gels, etc 
until several hours after I've shaven (and only if I really need it.)
