Tina,

I was able to get a meter for free from Lifescan.  I went to the website,
clicked on 'contact us' and emailed them a request for a free meter.  I
explained that I was a single mom of a son dx with T1 and could really use a
back up meter.  I told them that I loved the Ultra One Touch and also told
them that we tested 10+ times a day.  I figured....'what do I have to
lose?'.....Low and behold, they responded the next day saying they were
sending out a meter and that I would have it in 7-10 days.  I got it in 2.

It's definitely worth a try.  You can also get them at medical conferences,
diabetes conferences and children's D camps.
