I too have traveled for 6 years with my pump(Disetronic Htron v100) and I 
have never set off the detectors and I have never had to take off my pump at 
all!  I'm glad too because if i had a bent needle infusion set on it 
wouldn't be as easy to take off as the tender or ultraflex set!

I guess since I'm not a very bashful person (and my friends can attest to
this) I would probably just show them the infusion set (attached to me, of
course).  I've done this lots of times with curious people, in grocery
stores, malls, etc.
