No she wouldn't need to disconnect to just lay by the pool -- but you do need 
to take precautions against frying your insulin in the sun (like keeping it 
out of direct sunlight by wrapping it in a towel, or sticking it in a 
mini-backpack sitting next ot her lounge chair (while still connected) with a 
cold pack wrapped in a towel with it . . .).  Also, if you're spending a lot 
of time in the heat this summer, you may want to load less insulin in your 
cartridge and then be sure to change cartridges every 3-4 days . . .
