[IP] Research is Fun

Research investigation of diseases of any kind is fun and often lead to an
understanding of the mechanisms of disease. During the investigation one can
often find certain patterns which mimic other illnesses. I think the
intellectual stimulation of research hooks most of us on it. When you are in
practice you usually can only do clinical research because you don't have
the time or facilities needed for lab research. Certainly there is no
significant money to be made unless you work for a drug company. As a
graduate student, You only get tuition remission. People do research because
of intellectual interest, not dollars. Individuals go into medicine for
mixed motives, some to make money, many to help their fellow man/woman.
Medicine is a life long education.
