My mother-in-law has hers done frequently (she is Type 1, 25 years).
The nail person she uses had her purchase a nail kit through them which is
exclusively hers.  It cuts down on the germs and infection that can occur.
Plus you can buff your nails yourself if you just can't get in. :-)  The kit
was $12, so not a pocket drainer.  I thought it an interesting idea to have
your own kit, but apparently they recommend it to everyone, not just

PS She has never had a problem with her nails either.  She doesn't garden
but she does teach 1st grade.  Can't be much cleaner. <LOL>
