I work with static sensitive equipment and what I do is wear a static strap. What that is, is a wrist band with a cord attached to it. The cord needs to be grounded to the screw that hold the cover plate on any electrical outlet. Don't worry, all this does is drain any static buildup on your body to your house ground. They are available at any electronics supply.
