Re: [IP] CGM users: how often do you test?

Hi, Michelle, I've been using my Dexcom for about 9 months. There are times
that I test less often because of it and there are some times that I test
more often because of it. If it's a good sensor and keeping up with me, I
will test before each meal and when I go to sleep. So that's about 4-6
times a day. Now, if it's not the greatest sensor, I can test over 12 times
a day. There are sometimes nights where the meter wakes me 2-3 times to
tell me that I'm going low. I never, ever treat myself with food or insulin
until I do a finger prick. So, on those nights I prick myself each and
every time it wakes me and then I call Dexcom in the morning and complain
(when the sensor is incorrectly telling me I'm low). I still test quite
often, because I am very active and don't trust the meter to be accurate.
When I'm hiking, I can drop so quickly that the meter can be 50 points
behind me. I try to never take chances. If I'm on the cusp and I will be
driving, I test.

I hope this helps you. Susan
