Diabetes self-care requires three hours a day

Jul 24 (HealthCentersOnline) - Researchers have found a possible reason why
many diabetes patients are not meeting their treatment goals: Self-care
recommended by experts can take more than three hours a day.

Federal and nongovernmental diabetes organizations generally advise diabetes
patients to perform numerous tasks to control their blood sugar and prevent
many diabetes-related complications. These tasks include:

*	Perform daily foot

*	Perform oral care at least twice a day.
*	Take insulin and other medication regularly as instructed by their
*	Monitor and record glucose (blood sugar) several times a day.
*	Plan and prepare meals according to individual recommendations.
*	Exercise most days of the week.
*	Perform ketone tests when necessary.
*	Make and keep regular appointments with their primary doctor,
dentist, ophthalmologist and other healthcare providers as needed.
