[IP] Re: insulin-pumpers-digest V9 #930; stem cell research

There is no doubt that the cure for diabetes will come from stem cell research.
Because religion plays such a large role in American politics, stem cell
research here will be hampered by those religiously opposed to the use of
aborted fetuses and even umbilical cords from which stem cells can be extracted.
The CURE will come from France or Israel where such ludicrous practices do not
exist and where stem cell research is is being actively pursued.

Do you remember when the purest of insulins were available only in Denmark?
France led the world in more effective methods of birth control. Sex education
in Norway begins in the third grade. In England, terminal cancer patients can
use a heroin pump and live out the last of their days without pain, still
engaging in activities that they always enjoyed.

In America, we can send our young to ill-conceived wars to be slaughtered, but
we cannot abort an unwanted fetus without opposition. And Heaven forbid that we
should use their stem cells to save those among us from Cystic Fibrosis and
Diabetes and Parkinson's Disease and M.S. and dozens of other life-altering and
life-threatening diseases.
