[IP] Glucowatch

Last week a rep from Cygnus came to our diabetes group and talked to us about the Glucowatch. Most of what she said has already been covered here but there were a few new things. She said that it has been getting a favorable reception from insurance companies. They are now claiming that the readings are 98% reliable, which is a bit higher than before. The main new thing is that they are already about to come out with a new release, at the end of July. (The next one after that won't be til 2004.) In the new one the warmup time is only 2
hours, and the monitoring time is 13 hours, so you still have it on your wrist for 15 hours. It still uses the same Autosensors. It will be more expensive, but they will be offering a free upgrade to anyone who has the existing Glucowatch. So if you get the existing one now you can get the free upgrade.
