Pat.....my basal rate during the day is 0.8 an hour,so I take 2.4 units and
take the pump off..(for 3 hours)..there's nothing else going in so it
balances out...it took me a long time to try it,because I was scared, but it
works great...I hated going to the beach and wearing my pump and worrying
about getting sand in it...this way was great...I also went to a seminar in
advanced pumping and an exercise coach for kids was there and she uses this
method for kids and football and such...it's great.....but you need to try
it and test every hour and keep a check on your bg to start with and then as
you go...you get more comfortable with it....try it!!!!!!!  the best of luck
