I just gave birth to my son a few weeks ago and I thought the same as you
did about complications.  I did learn though that the "adjustment/ stress"
of pregnancy can trigger complications for eyes, kidneys, and nerves in
general.  I was very lucky and had no problems, but I heard of horrow
stories from my doctor of what happened to other women ( especially those
without tight control....)
