[IP] Re: Morning highs

Dear Cari,
Glad to know We are not the only ones with this problem too. My 5yr old
will sky rocket to 250 -300 on a good morning and 400 on a bad one. Also
regardless of the bolus ratio i give him. He is now taking 2 time his
regular bolus and also increased basals rates starting 2 hours before he
eats and still high numbers after breakfast. I notice that when i try to
give Him lots of insulin to counter for the high he will bottom out within
30 min after the insulin starts to drop him usually 2-3 hours after he has
eaten. And he will still have the morning high before he bottoms out. If
he doesn't eat his sugars will be fine all morning. It seems like food in
his system causes the insulin to sit around not working and then wham kick
in!!! We thought maybe hormones and food together are more than his body
can handle. We are like you and have just accepted postbreakfast highs. I
hope someone out there has this same problem and found a fix! We would love
to hear it. ( we are on Disetronic h tron with tenders)

Subject: [IP] morning highs, lack of sleep

My 6 yr old son Andrew was dx @ 14 mo. and has been pumping almost 2 yrs
with the Disetronic and Rapid 6 sets.

We have always had difficulties in the morning. Our situation seems a bit
different than most though so I'd love to hear from anyone that has the
same thing happen. He will wake up with great #'s (love that pump!) and
will stay level (even for a couple of hours) until he
