Sterling Medivations Now Has Twelve FDA Approvals for New Insulin Infusion 
Three New FDA-Approved Devices Will Provide Users With New Catheter Choices 
for Sterling's LifeMatch System and the MiniMed Paradigm Pump
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--June 28, 2001-- Sterling Medivations, 
Inc., today announced two new FDA 510K approvals for its Simple Choice(TM) 
line of insulin pump catheters and 510K approval of its Soft YP(TM) catheter 
for the MiniMed Paradigm(TM) insulin pump. These three new additions to the 
Sterling line bring Sterling's total to twelve new FDA approvals within the 
last eight months.
Sterling Medivations co-founder and CEO Joel Douglas, says, ``These new 
additions bring even wider choices, and cost savings to people with 
diabetes, new opportunities to our marketing partners, and are consistent 
with our mission of providing simple, low cost and convenient solutions for 
the insulin infusion marketplace.''
With the addition of its two new Simple Choice catheters, Sterling now 
offers a full line of insulin infusion catheters for its LifeMatch insulin 
infusion system. These include the Simple Choice with Wings(TM), the Simple 
Choice Soft(TM) and the Simple Choice QD (quick disconnect) Easy Access(TM) 
The Simple Choice catheters, when coupled with Sterling's Silver Pen(TM) 
insulin pen, create the LifeMatch System.
Says Douglas, ``With LifeMatch, the 4.5 million people with diabetes whose 
only choice for injection has been a syringe or traditional pen, will now, 
for the price of a pen, have the benefits of an insulin pump and 
Sterling's new catheter for use with the MiniMed Paradigm pumps, the Soft 
YP, brings people with diabetes both substantial costs savings and greatly 
increased comfort. The Soft YP's unique ``infuser port'' provides injection 
with a pen or syringe directly through the catheter hub while the catheter
