Yes, the sun will affect insulin.  First there is the heat from the sun 
which will affect it's viability.  Then there is the effect of the sunlight 
on the cresol preservative, not on the insulin crystals.  The sunlight 
tends to turn the cresol a not-lovely shade of brown.  I guess Lilly 
Co. figures no one wants to inject a brown insulin, so they warn us 
to avoid sunlight on insulin.
