[IP] donating blood

i checked with my husband (who is a blood banker SBB)..who in turn checked
his references for accuracy of information .. he stated that it is not the
use of insulin or oral hypoglycemic drugs that can disqualify you from
donating blood.. it is the presence of medical/health problems i.e.
cardiovascular, renal, etc.. that may be present in someone with diabetes (on
insulin or not) .. these conditions would prevent you or anyone else without
diabetes from being a blood donor..when questions arise, the medical director
of the blood bank doing the drive is consulted and will make the final
decision as to whether or not it is safe for you to donate blood.. hope this
