Regina -- what a frightening situation that must have been!! Thankfully, 
we've not experienced that. However, Amy used to have plenty ( 2 or more per 
day) lows pre-pump. Since going on the pump her lows are much less frequent 
-- no long acting insulin hanging around. Getting the basals set good and 
learning how foods affect his bgs for his bolus will be a real plus in your 
situation. Does he feel his lows? If not, the general consensus here is let 
him run a bit higher for a few weeks, then slowly bring his #'s back in line. 
This usually helps with the hypo unawareness some go through.
