I am one of those classified as "severe"  My old doc called me one night
right after I tested and I was on the verge of hysteria - my bs was 33!  No
symptoms, and he admitted that I appeared to be making sense and doing fine.
I am iin a study with U of Maryland and U of Va hospitals of severe
hypoglycemia.  One thing that they now know well, is that after a long time
of idabetes, you do seem to lose the realization of hypo - but they also
believe that realization of lows can be re-gained!  I went on the pump in
january, and in that time, evertime it gets low (rarely) now I recognize it!
Such a relief!  If you have a chronic problem with hypo's, as I did, I
suggest you look into a pump.  Good luck!
