These kids in Russia
could really use the NPH that new pumpers no longer need in their

Thirteen Russian teens with diabetes are in Indiana this summer,
attending camp, staying with host families, and going on a 700 mile
bike trip. They tell stories of extreme scarcity of insulin. What
little there is goes to children under 16. It's usually of animal
origin, and may be any kind - R, N, etc - no matter what type they are
supposed to be taking. Some kids have received only 130 units for an
entire month - about 4 units per day! They used to get 100 strips per
year, but that program ended April 1. Diabetes Youth Foundation of
Indiana is collecting insulin - H, R, and N - and strips (One Touch
and Elite) to send back home with the campers. If you would like to
help, please send these essential supplies, or money to buy them, by
August 5 to the following address:
