[IP] LifeScan Monitor

** FDA warns about Lifescan blood sugar monitor
Two people with serious diabetes have died because of a faulty blood
sugar monitor, the Food and Drug Administration warned Tuesday. It
said the monitors, made by Johnson & Johnson subsidiary LifeScan, were
being recalled. But the FDA urged people with diabetes to continue to
monitor their blood sugar levels in the meantime. "LifeScan has
characterized this as a product replacement program," the FDA said.
"However, FDA is concerned that some diabetics, wholesalers and
distributors who purchased these meters may be misled and not realize
this product replacement is for a potentially serious malfunction."
LifeScan announced the recall in June and told the FDA. See
