I had this identical problem.  Eventually, we worked that out, but then
my motor began to bind...just enough to lessen the amount of insulin I
received, but not enought to set off the ND alarm.  FRUSTRATING! 
Finally, MiniMed sent me a new pump and PROBLEM SOLVED!
