I'd take the time to ask around about this specialists reputation and success
rate, hopefully with other patients having similar risk factors.  But the way I
see it is that there's less downside to this than there might be, if you're
already blind in the eye to be done.  I mean, what do you have to loose?  You
might stay blind,  leaving things the way they already are, or you might regain
vision. Seems to me the main thing at risk is the financial aspects.  From what
I understand, it's not a highly risky surgery in terms of recovery periods or
complications beyond that of the eye itself.  But check it out carefully.
