 You could opt for a cortizone injection.  YES, it will raise BGs for a short 
period of time but then they will come back down.  Meanwhile the injection 
could last up to a year or more.  I'm going on 1.5+ years on my last injection 
for heel spur with absolutely no pain.
I'm not DMer, my son is.
