       As with anything it is trial and error.  Maybe try disconnecting her 
for the few hours she may be out and playing or skiing.  Between the activity 
and the cold her BGs should remain pretty stable and she might not even miss 
the basals.  i know that I have done this with Josh for swimming in the 
summer.  He has gone about 3-3.5 hours with no pump and actually gone hypo on 
top of that.  The extra heavy duty activity means less insulin is needed.  As 
for testing in cold weather.  Just let the fingers warm up a little before 
tesing.  Easier to get the blood up!
