[IP] Problems with Sil-Serter (tm)

A friend has been using the MiniMed 507c pump and Silhouette sets for some
time with some success. Last week she started using their Sil-Serter and
had blood sugars in excess of 400 for almost the entire time. She changed
her site at least four times during that period. Yesterday she went back to
inserting by hand and today she is under 130. She told me that several
times after using the Sil-Serter that the insertion needle came out bent.
Is this normal and is it normal for someone to experience significantly
higher blood sugars when using a Sil-Serter?

While far from painless (or inexpensive), the Sil-Serter is certainly
convenient and it would be nice if she could continue to use it. Can anyone
provide advice on overcoming the problems she experienced?
