Re: [IP] mixing insulins in pump

Some seem to have a sensitivity to the Humalog alone, and it causes the sites
to stop absorbing after less than 36 to 48 hours and becomes red and
irritated. Many find that mixing a small amount of regular or Velosulin BR
(a buffered regular) in with the Humalog will allow the site to last longer
and decreases the irritation. The proportions to mix will vary from
individual to individual, but most find between a 1R to 5Humalog and 2regular
to 5Humalog to work. You should check with your MD before trying this
though, and no it would not help with the 2 hr post meal bg, in fact using
this small amount or regular does not seem to change the onset or action at
all for most people.
