Oh yes, Barbara, a substance on the finger can interfere with an accurate
reading.  When it's recommended that you wash your hands with soap and
water, rinse and dry thoroughly before testing, it's to make sure you remove
any substance which could interfere with accuracy as well as softening the
skin and removing some bacteria.  You did the smart thing with washing and
Marj; Mike; and "Ace, the PP" (portable pancreas)

Okay, I tested again in about 1/2 hour and was flabbergasted to see the
meter read 302....When I tested again after 1/2 hour, a tiny amount of the
goo may still have been on some of my fingers.  Could that possibly have
been the reason??? Direct sugar in the blood droplet??"
