Re: [IP] Support Groups

I live over the border in Potomac, Maryland, so not too far from northern
Va!! I attend a support group for parents of children with diabetes..many
have kids on pumps, but most are older than my son (who is 14) and yours. My
son Ben has been on the pump since last March, and is doing
wonderfully...A1C never this low (under 7 the last two times)...sleeps
late...eats ALL the time! He is very active in all kinds of sports, and the
pump has made that so much easier.
I know Bethesda may be a long way to drive for a support group, but if you
are still looking, and need the info, let me know. We meet once a month, the
last Wednesday of the month, at Davis Library on Democracy Boulevard, just
off the beltway.
Does your doctor support the use of the pump? That is half the battle - we
had to switch doctors to get the pump and BOY are we glad we did!! Our
Minimed trainer lives over your way - Shaunaugh Browning is her name.
I don't know about your son, but mine is really quiet about his diabetes,
but maybe the two could email each other or something. Let me know. Good
luck.

Subject: [IP] Support Groups

> Hello! Our 16 year old is considering changing to a pump and we are
pretty convinced this is the way for him to go. However, we are trying to
do as much research as possible and would like to hook both he and us up
with any support groups in the northern Virginia area. Can anyone provide
that information? Thanks.
