Re: [IP] When did you have "full" responsibility for your diabetes?



 Well my brother and I have taken full responsibility for our diabetes since
our diagnoses  one in1955 and myself in 1957 . I can still remember the
nurses and dietitians coming in and saying to me you better learn how to
give a shot and learn how to eat right and do the chem tablets that you
dropped into a test tube and waited for the colors to change we always want
it to be a I think a dark blue or green. What they told me at that time was
I better know all this or I will be dead. These health people had no class
when it came to helping the parents or new diabetic. So I know when I walked
out of the hospital J took it upon myself to do the care. My parent did also
help us when we wanted her to give us a shot which I always wanted to do
myself.
