A lot of people with celiac are also lactose intolerant . . . I read 
somewhere that many celiacs who were lactose intolerant, stop being lactose 
intolerant once they've been on a gluten free diet for the celiac for a while 
. . . apparently some part of the small intestine produces the substance 
(?enzyme) needed to digest the lactose -- so when the celiac damages the 
small intestine, folks develop lactose intolerance , and when it heals, the 
intolerance goes away . . .
