RE: [IP] my feelings-To RoseLea

RoseLea,
Amy has tried Softsets, Softset Micros, Sil/Tender/Comforts, Bent Needles,
and is currently trying Rapids. So a new set is kind of hard. :) However,
you are right about absorption.

My CDE told me that I should expect different absorption depending on where
I put my set. That the stomach was the most consistent, then came the legs,
then the arms, and then the butt/hip. She said this was the same for MDI.
Although I have only been on the pump a month and have stayed with the
stomach I know that I will want to experiment with other sites. So maybe a
good choice if the sites seem to be inconsistent is to stay with the same
site area when regulating?

Amy,

Did you ever consider maybe you have absorption difficulty with the pump?
Perhaps a different type of infusion set or location might help? I'm not
pumping yet, but I have similar problems with MDI and it seems like some
days that the insulin just gets "lost" somewhere and other days where it
seems to all catch up to me. I attribute it to an inconsistant absorption
of the insulin. Although hormones might be a consideration, but I'm 48 and
still have those types of problems. It makes life difficult as I'm sure
you're aware of, especially when you have specific plans for the day and
your bg just doesn't cooperate. Others here can probably offer better
solutions for you, but I hope it eventually works out. :)
