Re: [IP] Re: JOB Denial

Dear Maxdog001,
    That is deplorable that you would be denied a job for your diabetes! I
don't know for sure, but I have a feeling that any statute of limitation
that may apply to descrimination probably expired after 29 years. I also
don't know what the laws were back in 1970-1. However, if it's any
consolation to you now, I worked at UPS as a TRUCK LOADER in the summer of
1998. I am 22 yrs old and a deabetic of almost 17 years. Perhaps their
policies have changed. It was horrible work and I felt every night that I
went to hell and somehow arose back to earth each morning. During that
summer, I eliminated (this was before I switched to the pump the following
summer) my Dinner Insulin altogether, and in the course of a shift, I would
have to eat s few candybars, several carbos, just to keep my bloodsugar up;
and even so, I'd often leave with bg's under 65. I wouldn't wish UPS truck
loading work on anyone! Nevertheless, discrimination is terrible and
unlawful.
sincerely,
Brian Baggaley
