According to "Diabetes for Dummies," these are the tests your doctor or
doctors should be giving a patient with IDDM, and their respective

Hemoglobin A1c    every three months
Microalbuminuria    yearly if negative, more often if positive
Dilated eye exam    yearly (by an opthalmologist)
Fasting lipid panel   yearly at least
Blood pressure       at each visit
Weight                   at each visit
Pulse                      at each visit

If you have any loss of sensation in your feet, your doctor should inspect
them at each visit.
