Re: [IP] Unused insulin rule for humalog

General rule of thumb.

Look at the insert that comes with the insulin giving the maximum
effective time and look at the curves.

The Humalog insert shows both R and H.

Humalog 2 - 2 1/2 hours
Regular, Velosulin, etc... 4 - 5 hrs

When calculating bg drops when high, Lily uses 2 hours for Humalog and 4
hours for Regular insulins. For calculating how much remains in when
low (and worried) she uses 2 1/2 hours for Humalog and 5 hours for
regular insulins.

Basically you divide the insulin availability up in to the time slots.
If you took 1 unit of Humalog, in 1 hour half would have been used to
bring down a hbs. I you were low, after an hour, 1 1/2 hours would
0.6 units to force you down lower.
