RE: [IP] foods that I love - Lo-Carb chocolate sauce
From: Michael Kurtis
Deb, I also enjoy endulging in the old "Taboos", and agree that if you
don't go off the wagon periodically, you will probably burn out and go off
the deep end or possibly just get bored with the life style.
My weaknesses (wording thought of affectionately)lies with Linzer Tarts and
General Tso Chicken xxx spicy. The tarts require as much insulin as a good
chinese dinner for me. You should see the fat in that one, I can feel it.

OK, Michael - I'm gonna overlook the fact that this came across as possibly
a little bit of a sermon........... I'm sure it was meant in a constructive
manner. :-) Just so you know, I am concerned about the fat in my diet and
I do know the stats on heart disease and diabetics. *However*, I will allow
myself a little bit of a treat now and then - if for no other reason than it
helps my mental health!! My endo thinks it's OK, I think it's OK, all that
good stuff....... the operative words here are 'treat' and 'now and then'.
Keeps me thinking in a more positive light - I'm talking at the most once
every 10 days or so....... and I plan for it and make up the transgression
by choosing healthier low-fat foods the rest of that day. I was just trying
to share something I thought was a 'good thing' with others on the list! I
mean - as opposed to old fashioned hot fudge sauce like Grandma made with
Eagle Brand, the likes of which I thought I would never taste again, this
stuff is a god send!!

What are the fat numbers in these Russell Stover's treats? More important
the saturated ones. Many low carb items are high in fat to make up for the
loss in sugar. With Heart desease the #1 killer of diabetics, if you are on
insulin, the fats should be of equal or greater concern.
