I do exactly the same thing even the example you cited. At these lows I seem to eat no-nos. But when I can control my recovery from the low I take a measured amount of pure sugar in soda or tea. When I do it right at 40 bs I take Snaple(52 g) or s0da(41.5 g). In 15-30 mins my bs will go up to 120 to 160. I really dont know why I do but at some lows I eat a lots and good tasting stuff but my bs goes above 350. I think it is my way of saying to hell with everything I am doing what I want. That is no answer but I got out of the cage if only for a little while.
