[IP] part time pump use (have I gone Insane or what)

Sandy Peitzer <Pants email @ redacted>
I am the mother of Lisa, a nine year old diabetic. She was diagnosed in
July of 1996. We FINALLY convinced our doctor to let Lisa use the pump. He
put a restriction on it, using it from only 7:30PM to 7:30 AM She
receives her shot of NPH and R in the am. She is very upset that she cannot
use it all the time The dr's reason is that he feels she is too young to
deal with it at school when a parent is not there. The school does not have
a school nurse, but I have educated them fully on how to deal with Lisa's
diabetes, so I feel I could educate them on how to deal with her
pump. Lisa is very educated on diabetes and does her own shots. I live in
El Paso, TX None of the our other children nor my husband nor I, are
excuse my ignorance but if your kid is already taking care of her diabetes
what is different about school hours, give your kid a cell phone, if she
has a problem she can call you. she can test, see where she is and do carb
counting what else does she need. if she gets trained the pump trainer is
going to teach her how to manage the pump continuously. Spot
