If you don't use a lot of insulin or you are recently dx'd and still 
producing some insulin, it allows you to set no-basal delivery for a 
long period of time when necessary. For the first few months after 
Lily started pumping she ran a basal rate of zero for 4-5 hour each 
afternoon. There are others on the list who do/have done likewise for 
similar reasons. It's all part of managing your insulin requirements 
to get the best possible results from pump therapy.
