ellen, be careful.  They only showed a correlation, and correlations never
demonstrate causality.  Maybe that defective gene that leads to type 2
diabetes also promotes thin babies.  Then fattening them and mom up in
utero won't really affect the action of the gene later in life.   Everyone
likes to try to make sense out of statistical correlations, but its usually
just guessing.

< The study was done at a hospital in Boston and showed that 5 pound
<babies had an 83% higher risk of getting Type 2 D than babies born between 7
<and 8.5 pounds.  If this info is true, it seems as though a normal birth
<weight could go a long way in preventing diabetes(the type 2 variety).  ellen
